OAC: Ocean Awareness Contest – Connections to Nature Through Art
The Ocean Awareness Contest is hosted by Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs. It encourages students globally to address ocean and environmental issues creatively—through art, writing, film, multimedia, music, dance, or spoken word—under the 2025 theme “Connections to Nature: Looking Inside, Going Outside.” Past participants from over 140 countries contribute to a global youth arts collection.
Eligibility Criteria for OAC

Open globally to students ages 11–18 (Junior 11–14 / Senior 15–18).

Must be enrolled in middle or high school (or homeschool equivalent); graduates or college students are not eligible.

Individual or group submissions allowed; one adult sponsor (teacher, mentor, parent) required.

Participants under age 13 must provide parental consent.
How to apply for OAC

Register online by creating an account on the official submission platform.

Choose your medium (e.g. visual art, film, poetry, music) and create your entry reflecting one or more sub-themes: Generational Knowledge, Concrete Jungle, Resilience, Healthy Environments, Healthy Humans.

Include a 100–300‑word reflection statement and list any sources or inspirations.

Provide sponsor contact information, consent if under 13, and upload entry files.

Submit online before the deadline; only online submissions accepted.
