Organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), the AMC series includes AMC 8 for middle-schoolers, AMC 10 and AMC 12 for high-school students. These multiple-choice contests test critical thinking and math skills. High performers advance to the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), and then to the USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO/USAJMO) based on performance and eligibility.
Eligibility Criteria for MAA

AMC 8: Grade 8 or younger and under 14.5 years old on test day.

AMC 10: Grade 10 or below and under 17.5 years old.

AMC 12: Grade 12 or below and under 19.5 years old.

Participants must register through an accredited school, math circle, or learning center affiliated with MAA. International students participate via official country-based group leaders.
How to apply for MAA

Schools or learning centers register as competition managers with the MAA.

Choose the appropriate test level (AMC 8, 10, or 12).

Sit for the exam on scheduled dates in November (gr 10/12) or January (AMC 8).

High scorers on AMC 10/12 may be invited to AIME, leading to USAMO/USAJMO invitations.
