ICYS: International Conference of Young Scientists (Secondary School Level)

ICYS is a long-running international competition for individual secondary students. Each participant prepares a research report and presents it in a 10-minute talk followed by Q&A. Hosted annually in different countries, ICYS gathers students to engage in research, presentation, and peer exchange across scientific disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria for ICYS

  • Students aged 14–18 (or equivalent secondary school level).

  • Individual participants present in one of the tracks: physics, mathematics, computer science, or ecology.

  • Research must be original, presented in English, and include a well-structured report and oral presentation.

  • Participants are typically nominated by national organizers or school coordinators.

How to apply for ICYS

  • Contact your country’s official ICYS representative or through national scientific education bodies.

  • Submit your research abstract or full report in advance.

  • Attend the conference with up to six student delegates and two leaders per nation.

  • Pay any required registration fees, and prepare for oral presentation.
