International Space Settlement Design Competition (ISSDC)
The International Space Settlement Design Competition (ISSDC) is a prestigious, industry-simulated contest that challenges high school students to design a large-scale space settlement in response to a detailed Request for Proposal (RFP). Teams collaborate under time pressure, emulate real-world aerospace companies, and present to judges with industry backgrounds. Winners of regional and national rounds compete in the global finals held annually at NASA Kennedy Space Center.
Eligibility Criteria for ISSDC
Open to high school students worldwide (typically aged 14–18).
Participants can compete as:
Individuals (in select countries like USA/Canada)
Small teams or full school teams (up to 12 students + 1 adult advisor)
Must not have participated in the final ISSDC before as part of a winning team.
English proficiency is essential (competition is conducted in English).
